Effects of the international economic crisis would have been lessened if the economy had had more Romanian capital, said Prime Minister Tariceanu, stressing that the purpose of Energy Company was to create a strong Romanian company.
“The setup of National Energy Company roused many talks. Not many people understood the need of this company, not as a virtue of the state economy. I don’t believe in the state’s virtues as operator in the economy, but I do believe in the need of securing a strong Romanian capital-based economy. I believe the effects of the current global crisis would be lessened if there was an economy with stronger Romanian capital”, said Tariceanu at a debate at ASE.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the Romanian economy is dominated by multinational companies which will reduce their investment volume in Romania, due to the shaky economic landscape across the world.
He added that foreign-capital banks are likely to stop renewing the credit lines they had contracted in Romania, because they have to deal with bigger problems in their home countries.
