NBR last posted such a high level on June 24, when the exchange rate stood at 4.2284 lei per euro. The lender established a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2138 lei per euro in the previous session.

The leu depreciated from 4.2148 to 4.2260 per euro in the morning and then floated near 4.22. At 1:40 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.22 lei and selling it for 4.2275 lei.

The Polish zloty fell from 4.3718 to 4.4130 versus the euro and then waved near 4.41, while the Hungarian forint plummeted from 275.84 to 279 over the European currency.

NBR’s benchmark exchange rate also indicates a 0.14 percent climb of the national currency versus the U.S. dollar to 3.0291 lei per dollar, from 3.0334 in the previous session.
