The leu swayed today between 4.2150 and 4.22 per euro and at 1:40 p.m. banks were buying a euro for 4.2150 lei and selling it for 4.2195 lei.

The Polish zloty rose from 4.3875 this morning to 4.3589 versus the euro and then dropped anchor close to 4.36. The Hungarian forint similarly won ground from 276.73 to 275.04 per euro, but it slipped to 275.35 per euro later on.

The benchmark exchange rate posted today by the central bank, of 3.0183 lei per dollar indicated a 0.35 percent climb of the leu, from yesterday's 3.0291.
