Durable consumer goods market in Romania fell by 40.4% in the first half of the year down to 664 million euros compared to the same period of last year, a recent GfK Temax report, from GfK Romania.
The overall market for electrical goods was 308 million euros in the second quarter of this year, a drop of 46,8% compared to the same period of 2008.
IT and office equipment sec-tors had the worst performance as they dropped by 47,2% and 51,4% respectively.
Small domestic appliances and telecommunications sectors dropped by 22,1% and 25,8% in the first half of the year.
Major domestic appliances sales had a better quarter compared to the beginning of the year but the results for the current year show a drop of 37,1%. Consumer electronics (televisions sets) also declined by 42,6%, closely followed by the photo sector with a negative growth of 43,2% for the first six months.
