UPC Romania, the second largest cable operator reported the first growth in revenues of the past two years, according to the financial statement of US-based Liberty Global, the parent company of UPC. The report doesn’t disclose any financial information for Liberty Gobal’s operations in Romania, but only the customer base.
In line with first quarter results, the only decrease in customer base was observed in the analog cable segment, with 872,800 subscribers at September 30, 40,100 fewer from June.
The operator reported 23,300 additions to cable services, the number of subscribers increasing to 202,900 from the end of first quarter.
DTH customer base increased to 161,600 subscribers with 5,800 new additions from June, while internet services had a roughly similar growth, of 5,700 additions to a base of 256,400.
For the fixed-line services UPC has 144,500 subscribers, 4,000 more than in June this year.
At the end of first half this year, UPC reported revenues of €61 million, 19% down from a year-ago period.
In 2008, UPC recorded €100 million loss and a turnover of €137.6 million. The operator’s turnover fell 21.5% from €167.3 million in 2007 to €137.6 million in 2008.
