The benchmark exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania fell insignificantly by 0.02 percent to 4.2995 lei per euro in quiet trading, without major transactions, the national currency following the trend of the emerging currencies in the region that lost ground in the early trades, NewsIn informs.
Yesterday, NBR posted an official rate of 4.3005 lei per euro.
At 1:30 p.m. banks were buying the euro with 4.2957 lei and selling it for 4.3047 lei.
In the region, the Hungarian forint plummeted from 275.7 to 277.25 versus the euro, while the Polish zloty slumped from 4.2490 to 4.2740 versus the single European currency and then recouped to 4.2675.
For the RON/USD the central bank announced an official rate of 2.8961, down 0.58 percent from yesterday’s 2.9130.
