Capital Research and Management Company, the advisory arm of US-based Capital Companies, is now holding more than 5% of Erste Group shares (ticker: EBS), the Austrian-based banking group said in a release.
According to the financial statement from November 12, Capital Research and Management Company holds 15.93 million Erste shares, which accounts for 5.01% stake in the bank’s capital.
Capital Research and Management Company is the advisory arm of Capital Companies group that includes Capital Bank and Trust, Capital Guardian, Capital International, Capital International Asset Management and Capital International Funds.
Erste Group Bank, that holds Banca Comerciala Romana, said it had raised €1.74 billion in capital in a rights issue closed Monday, a day earlier than scheduled, the final price being €29/share, more than expected.
The Austrian-based bank said the capital increase would lift its pro forma core Tier 1 ratio.
Erste said the rights issue was closed on Monday, one day earlier than planned, due to the strong demand. The group will announce in the coming days the price of the subscription and the new ownership structure.
