Romania’s health officials confirmed today the second death of a Romanian citizen from swine flu and 190 new cases over the past 24 hours, lifting the total number of people infected with AH1N1 to 2258.
A 57-year-old woman from Botosani who suffered from type II diabetes and obesity died today, thus marking the second death in Romania from swine flu.
Yesterday, the number of confirmed cases of swine flu was 1966, 50 of which in Bucharest. Apart from Bucharest, the most infected areas are Vrancea county – 23, Neamt – 15 and Dambovita and Bacau -14 cases each.
“The total number of confirmed cases in Romania, until 24.11.2009, 12:00EET is 2258 – from 1966 yesterday. To the 190 new cases today, are added 102 due to the reevaluation of the infected area in Sinaia and reporting by DSO Botosani of 98 cases”, Ministry of Health said in a release.
