FedEx adds new forwarding locations

Package delivery company FedEx Express, subsidiary of FedEx, will expand its presence in Romania by launching a new shipment service between Romania and Europe with the introduction of a new one-business-day service connecting Timisoara and Arad cities with key European locations.

The clients in the two cities, that represent around 2330 zip codes, will now enjoy next-business-day shipping services to 20 European countries, such as Germany, France, and UK.

Since the transit time to Asia has been reduced by one day, the shipment to important locations in the region, such as China, India and Vietnam, is made in two or three business days, depending on the service in the country of destination.

Forwarding services to Romania has also been improved by upgrading FedEx Express line complete the custom formalities in Timisoara. FedEx customers will also enjoy a second-business-day service for shipments to Timisoara. Packages from US and key areas in Asia, such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai will be shipped within 3 business days and those from Europe in one day.

“Timisoara represents a major development opportunity for FedEx Express in Eastern Europe, the city being one of the economic growth engines of Romania and one of the cities with the fastest development rate in Europe”, said Antje Schuett-Fahrenkrog, regional vice president, operations, FedEx Express Central and Eastern Europe and Israel.

“Romania is one of Europe’s emerging markets with marked growth rates in metallurgy, textiles, and constructions. FedEx comes to stimulate this development by connecting markets to a global level”, he added.
