FIC stocks end 1.22% higher

FIC stocks (BSE:SIF) at the Bucharest Stock Exchange finished up 1.22% today, in a steady session, amid intense speculation over Parliament’s decision to raise equity holding cap of 1%.

Traders’ lively interest in FICs was reflected on the market’s liquidity, that was 70% generated by transactions with FIC shares.

“I believe the scenario remains highly speculative, with FICs continuing to stir sentiment in the market. However, it is difficult to say when the Parliament will reach a final decision on equity holding cap. It is a purely political decision”, said Florin Irimin, broker at Intercapital Invest.

According to the news in the media, deputies will add the project on their early-December agenda. Deputy Chamber will give the final decision, after the Senate passed the initiative.

“We hope the episode to end in December so we can focus on other things at the stock market, such as public offerings, brining new companies, and so on”, Irimin added.

On Wednesday, the Bucharest Stock Exchange traded around 20.2million lei (€4.73 million), down 40% from Tuesday’s close of 34 million lei. Futures contracts totaled 1.07million lei today.

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most liquid stocks at the BSE ended slightly lower 0.01% to 4,959.56 points, while the composite BET-C dropped 0.17% to 2,866.06.

BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies (BSE:SIF) gained 1.22% to 24,250.98 points, while Vienna Stock Exchange’s ROTX fell 0.34% to 10,302.53 points.

BET-XT index that measures the performance of the 25 most liquid shares moved 0.38% higher to 483.50, and BET-NG of the energy companies listed at BSE closed down 0.21% to 626.93points.

European stock markets showed modest gains at the BSE’s closing hour, on positive U.S unemployment data. FTSE index of leading 100 shares was up 0.35% to 5,342.62 points while Germany’s DAX inched up 0.01% to 5,769.94. Paris’ CAC40 was increasing by 0.43% to 3,800.94 points.

FIC Oltenia (BSE:SIF5) has led the most traded stock chart today, with shares worth 6.22million lei changing hands, pushing prices up 1.57% to 1.29 lei, followed by FIC Moldova (BSE:FIC2) with a 0.89% growth to 1.13 lei, and a liquidity of 3.47 million lei.
