Approximately 3,000 social care workers will lose their jobs in 2010, after the Government will have adopted the cost standards for social service system – amounts deemed optimum for the institutions in the system, Minister of Labor, Mihai Seitan, said.
He said at the end of the Government’s session on Wednesday that the regulatory document adopted by the Government sets forth the number of persons who work in child protection, persons with disabilities, elderly people. The 32,000 headcount will be reduced by 3,000.
The cost reduction plan agreed by the Government envisages a social care spending cut for 2010 as follows: 26% for child protection (around 317 million lei), 8% - social care for persons with disabilities (around 36.6 million lei) and 3% - social care for elderly persons (around 3.6 million lei).
