The national currency opened session on a positive note today, rising to 4.1120 lei against euro, but lost steam in mid day trading and harked back to morning rates, in line with its peers in the region.
The National Bank of Romania set on Tuesday a reference rate of 4.1224 lei/euro, down 0.07% from Monday’s rate of 4.1252 lei/euro.
“The leu moved sideways following the regional trend, and the trading volume has been pretty high so far”, a dealer told NewsIn.
On Tuesday, the leu grew in the early trades from 4.1240 to 4.1120 units/euro but fell afterwards to 4.1260 units/euro.
In the region, the Polish zloty fell in the morning from 3.9640 to 3.95 zloty/euro, and dropped afterwards to 3.9740 zloty/euro. The forint edged up to 269.10 units against euro from 269.80, and slipped to 270.20 units vs euro at noon.
For the US dollar, the central bank set a reference rate of 3.0306 lei/dollar, up 0.01% from Monday’s rate of 3.0303 lei/dollar.
