Scaderea pietei de publicitate cu aproape 40% anul trecut, pana la 350 milioane euro, se reflecta destul de dureros in cifrele de afaceri ale principalelor agentii de media de piata romaneasca, publicate la Registrul Comertului.

Cel mai mare grup de comunicare din lume, WPP, este reprezentat in Romania prin agentiile de media Mindshare, Mediaedge:cia (MEC) si MediaCom (cele trei formeaza poolul de media buying GroupM). Dintre acestea, Mindshare a inregistrat anul trecut cea mai mare scadere in cifra de afaceri, de 48,4%, pana la 25,6 milioane euro.

Mediaedge:cia a obtinut o usoara crestere in cifra de afaceri, de 2%, si a facturat in 2009 de 30,6 milioane euro. Evolutia se datoreaza in principal castigarii unor clienti noi precum Altex si BCR.

Over half of Romanian recruiters used social sites for hiring

Around 55% of human resources specialists in Romania said they hired a job candidate contacted on social media sites, while a good 84.8% interviewed job candidates found on Facebook, LinkdIn or Twitter, according to a survey carried out by the students of the MBA program at ASEBUSS in partnership with Kennesaw State University – Atlanta, Georgia.

The professional social networking site LinkdIn is the favorite of 85% of those polled, 21% turn to Facebook, and only 5% to Twitter.

“Social media is a very powerful tool in the hiring process usually for middle and entry level positions, rather than for top management. Romanian recruiters turn to social sites for searching job candidates with 1-2 year experience or 3-6 year experience”, said Daniela Gheorghe, health insurance director at Certasig, who will graduate from the MBA program in summer this year.

Online advertising market: 65.2 million lei in 2009, late-year rally

The internet advertising market in Romania was worth 65.2 million lei in 2009 (€15.4 million), up 10% on a like for like basis on the previous year, according to IAB online ad spend study conducted in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers, "Romanian Online Advertising Study" (ROADS).

IAB study points to a hefty 53% growth in 2009 compared to 2007 and a moderate 3% growth in H1 2009 versus H2 2008.

In the first half 2009, when total ad revenues stood at 25.5 million lei, the market slumped 25% year-on-year weighed down by lower ad budget. In the second half, the study indicates a 3% increase y-o-y, ad revenues reaching 39.7 million lei, 56% above first-half level.

The beginning of 2009 saw average monthly values for the ad industry hovering near 3-5 million lei. The first signs of recovery became visible in September 2009, when the market rose 52% compared with the trailing month, from 3.9 million lei to 5.8 million lei. The upward trend continued for the remainder of the year, and in December, monthly ad revenues peaked 9 million lei.
