Midday Forex: Leu rises to new high against euro after NBR rate cut

The official exchange rate set by the National Bank of Romania dropped 0.24 percent to 4.1851 lei per euro, the lowest level of the past four months, after BNR decided to cut the monetary policy rate, in line with expectations, NewsIn informs.

NBR last reported such a low exchange rate on June 1, when the national currency stood at 4.1817 versus the euro.

Yesterday, the central bank posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1953 lei per euro.

In the region, Hungary's forint hovered near 269 per euro, while the Polish zloty traded between 4.1875 and 4.2142 versus the single European currency.

For the U.S. currency, NBR’s exchange rate inched 0.14 percent to 2.8701 lei per dollar, from 2.8662 in the previous session.
