The obverse of the coin depicts the “Holy Trinity” Cathedral in Blaj, flanked by the buildings of the theological seminary and of the community school founded by Petru Pavel Aron, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the face value, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue, 2009.
The reverse of the coin depicts the portrait of Bishop Petru Pavel Aron, his coat of arms and the inscriptions 1709 and 1764. To the left, inscribed in an arc is the legend “PETRU PAVEL ARON”.
Each coin is housed in a transparent plastic capsule and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The selling price is 180 lei, excluding VAT and the cost of the presentation case, and will be available as of December 16.
The silver collector coins commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Petru Pavel Aron will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara.
