Romanian stocks close 2.5% higher

The buying frenzy continued today at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, as most indexes rallied to new record highs, buoyed by the bullish European equities.

Nevertheless, the liquidity at the Bucharest Stock Exchange fell to 21.34 million lei (€5.16 million) compared to Friday’s level of 34.26 million lei (€8.22 million). Transactions with state securities totaled 14.97 million lei (€3.59 million).

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most traded stocks at BSE jumped 1.95% to 5,176.95 points, while composite BET-C soared 2.48% to 3,008.37 points.

BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies (BSE:SIF) gained 2.65% to 26,006.99 points while Vienna’s ROTX closed 1.87% higher to 10,654.87 points.

BET-XT index of the 25 most actively traded stocks rose 2.37% to 509.79 points, while BET-NG of the ten energy stocks at BSE finished 2.97% up to 653.63 points.

European stocks hit fresh new highs today, as investors were encouraged by China export data. At the London Stock Exchange, FTSE index of the leading 100 companies was rising 0.63% to 5,568.95 points while Germany’s DAX was advancing 0.63% to 6,075.57 points. France’s CAC40 was growing by 0.33% to 4,058.68 points.

FIC Oltenia shares (BSE:SIF5) have led the most traded stock chart today with 3.59 million lei trades. The shares closed 2.19% up to 1.40 lei. FIC Moldova (BSE:SIF2) shares climbed 1.67% to 1.22 lei, as transactions totaled 3.14 million lei.

In the banking sector, BRS SocGen (BSE:BRD) suffered a 0.69% decline to 14.40 lei in a liquidity of 2.55 million lei. Banca Transilvania (BSE:TLV) shares grew 2.17% to 2.35 lei, in a liquidity of only 829,190 lei. Petrom (BSE:SNP) shares climbed 3.94% to 0.29 lei in a liquidity of 1.95 million lei.
