BSE indices close higher

Indices at the Bucharest Stock Exchange traded higher today, led by financial investment companies that jumped 3.67%, after the official data showed a decline in jobless claims in US.

The number of initial jobless claims for the week ending March 25 came in 6,000 below a week earlier, to 439,000, according to Bloomberg, data pointing to a recovery in USA job market.

The total trading value at the stock market rose Thursday to 31.28 million lei (€7.64 million) from 19.22 million lei (€4.69 million). The liquidity of fixed-instruments trades totaled 34.61 million lei, after 3,000 state securities changed hands.

BET index that gauges the performance of the ten most actively traded stocks at BSE rose 2.14% to 6,092.72 points, while composite BET-C jumped 2.36% to 3,603.17 points.

BET-FI index of the five financial investment companies had the biggest gain – 3.67% - to 33,312 points, while Vienna’s ROTX moved 2% higher to 12,170.03 points.

BET-XT index of the 25 most traded stocks jumped 2.61% to 609,11 points, while BET-NG gauge of ten energy stocks increased by 2.36% to 824.63 points.

FIC Oltenia (BSE:SIF5) jumped 4.42% to 1.89 lei and posted a total trading value of 5 million lei. FIC Moldova (BSE:SIF2) increased by 2.67% to 1.54 lei and recorded a trading liquidity of 4.62 million lei.

In the banking sector, transactions with Banca Transilvania (BSE:TLV) totaled 3.31 million lei, while stock prices finished flat at 2.31 lei. BRD SocGen (BSE:BRD) moved 1.92% higher to 15.90 lei.
