Blue Air and Wizz Air cancel flights

Blue Air and Wizz Air, the largest airline carriers in Romania, canceled two and three flights respectively scheduled to take off today, April 21, as airspace restrictions caused by the eruption of the volcano in Iceland remain in force.

Under these circumstances, Blue Air said it canceled Bucharest-Paris-Bucharest and Sibiu-Cologne-Sibiu flights, while Wizz Air canceled Bucharest-Dortmund-Cluj and Cluj-Paris-Cluj.

“Flights to London where the ban is still in place are still grounded, but if the airspace restrictions are lifted, we will consider operating the routes”, Wizz Air representatives said.

The rest of the flights in the timetable of the two carriers will be operated of air traffic authorities keep airspace open.

Since the volcanic ash is heading SE, other routes may be canceled.
