Minister of Foreign Affairs talks energy projects with Clinton

Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Baconschi held energy security talks with the U.S Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton (photo) during his official visit to Washington that focused on Romania’s main projects in the field.
The Romanian Minister said at the press briefing at the State Department that talks with his U.S counterpart also addressed the recent developments of the Black Sea region in the “close vicinity of European Union”.

The two officials stressed the need for active bilateral cooperation for a better protection of soldiers in Afghanistan, as Romania bolstered troops in the war zone.

The Minister Baconschi described talks with Hillary Clinton as “excellent” and said he was looking forward to collaborating with U.S counterpart and increase value of the bilateral partnership.

He stressed Romania and USA want to take their relations to new heights, including through the anti--missile defense program.

Also, according to the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bucharest and Washington have “common expectations” on the year-end NATO summit, where a new strategic concept will be adopted by the organization that is to give the green light to the integration of US anti-missile shield into NATO’s collective defense system.

“We would also like to explore all possibilities of sparking interest in the American business community regarding the opportunities offered by the Romanian economy,” said Baconschi during his first official visit to Washington.
