Isarescu: Annual lending will climb at slower pace in the future

Lending growth pace will slow down in the future, probably down to 25-30% pace from 50-60% registered in the past few months, NBR governor, Mugur Isarescu stated.

He stressed that NBR was never opposed to credit growth, but intended on slowing down its growth speed.

Annual growth rate of personal loans has sharply slowed down in the past two summer months, by 13%, from 63.4% in June, down to 55.8% in July and 50.4% in August, in the context of discussions on lending regulation of the central bank, effective as of this month, NewsIn informs.

On September 11, manager of financial stability division within National Bank of Romania, Ion Dragulin estimated a cut of lending growth pace by 10-12% up to this year end, from July’s level.
