Nokia: third-quarter profit slumped 30%
Nokia, the world leader on mobile phone industry posted a decline of third-quarter profit, due to price fall, Bloomberg informs.
Nokia’s net profit plunged to 1.09 billion euros (29 cents/share), in third quarter from 1.56 billion euros a year earlier, according to the announcement made at the conference call. Analysts forecasted 1.12 billion net profit.
Sales volume dropped 5.1% down to 12.2 billion euros.
Company representatives forecasted a 10.5% growth of handset production in 2008, up to 1.26 billion units, which rose Nokia’s shares quotations by 1.8% to 12 euros/share.
Nokia tuned up to the Romanian market by investments in Jucu, the factory that produced in May the first million handsets in Romania, after only three months since the opening.
