Car parts suppliers of Mercedes plant in Kesckemet, likely to come in Romania

Car parts suppliers of Mercedes plant in Kesckemet are likely to come in Romania, as from logistic standpoint, we are very close to the future location of German carmaker’s plant in Hungary, said Sorin Vasilescu (photo), managing director of Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment (ARIS).

“We could at least have the car parts suppliers, if we lost Mercedes. It is very likely for the suppliers to open unit here, because at logistic level, we are very close to Kesckemet,” Vasilescu added.

Managing director of ARIS said Romanian market is still providing proper conditions for the suppliers. “The actual crisis has not reduced the demand”, Vasilescu mentioned.

Investment projects in car industry, currently advised by Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment, have a combined value of 2 billion euros, and 1 billion belong to Ford’s suppliers.

Of all 92 large projects that ARIS assists, 40 of them are in car industry namely production activities and research, setting approximately 22,000 jobs.

Companies in car industry have conducted the largest foreign Greenfield investments in Romania, whose combined value reaches 1.086 billion euros.
