Microsoft delivers Vista SP2 beta

Microsoft said it would deliver the new Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), designed to partially update Vista operating system, ComputerWorld informs.

This is the first time that Microsoft has packaged a single service pack that updates both the client and server editions of Windows, the company announced in one of its blogs.

Windows Vista SP2 can be downloaded from Microsoft Developer Network or TechNet. The company released a similar tool for Vista SP1 and other applications designed to facilitate the update, which can be found on Windows Update.

As this is the release date for a beta update, Microsoft recommends most of the users to wait until the final version is ready.

Windows Vista SP2 Beta is designed to IT passionate and professionals, who can test it before the availability of the final version, according to Mike Nash, corporate vice president for Windows Product Management.

SP2 adds support for Vista operating system, such as ability to record data on to Blu-Ray natively in Windows Vista, and adds Windows Connect Now to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration. Moreover, the update will integrate Hyper-V virtualization technology that enables simultaneous running of several operating systems – Windows, Linux, Unix – on one computer or server.
