Wizz Air operates new flights in Romania



Low-cost airline carrier Wizz Air increased number of flights from Romania, opening three new routes, which will go into effect as of December 17, 2008.

The low-cost operator said it will carry up to 140,000 passengers on the new routes in 2009.

The company operates three weekly flights from Timisoara to Rome and Dortmund and from Cluj-Napoca to Paris, thus the capital of France becoming the tenth most accessible destination to Cluj inhabitants through Wizz Air.

According to a prior roundup, the company said it would open the tenth operating base at Timisoara in February 2009. In the next three years, Wizz Air will add three more A320 aircrafts to its fleet and will increase workforce by 100, the total investment following to exceed 100 million euros. After Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, in Timisoara will be the third base of the company in Romania.

Wizz Air is operating an Airbus A320 aircraft fleet and routes from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania to a wide range of destinations from Europe. The carrier has recently expanded network in Ukraine. Wizz Air carried 5.5 million passengers in the last 12 months.
