Orange Romania, 200 million euros investment in 2008



Orange Romania, the country’s the biggest mobile network operator, invested 200 million euros in retail and telecommunication network expansion.

The total investments of Orange Romania in 1997-2008 exceeded 1.6 billion euros.

The operator has recently opened its 101st store, while the investments in the retail chain amounted to 5 million euros this year only.

“We have invested nearly 5 million euros this year, in the enlargement of Orange retail chain, by opening new units and supporting our partners that expanded in cities and rural areas. Next year, we plan on continuing our development strategy of the retail chain by opening new Orange shop and supporting our partners in their expansion plans”, said Florin Popa, Sales&Distribution director at Orange Romania.

With its 101 own stores, 1,100 partners and nearly 35,000 prepaid cards sales points , Orange continues to hold the broadest retail chain of a Romanian mobile telecommunication operator.

At the end of September 2008, Orange Romania reported 349 million euros revenue, up 7% in third quarter from a year earlier, while the client database climbed to 10,208,000.
