Jonathan Soper steps down from the helm of InterContinental



After a two-year-mandate, Jonathan Soper (photo) is to hand over the reigns of InterContinental hotel in Bucharest, and will be replaced by German Marten Schoenrock, as of tomorrow.

Aged 42, Marten Schoenrock has an extensive experience in hotel industry and 17 years history at InterContinental hotels group chain.

Schoenrock will be named hotel manager at Bucharest InterContinental , after two years in the same position at InterContinental Berlin.

Vienna, Koln, Leipzig, Chicago, Dallas, Tashkent are only some of InterContinental locations where he was cost controller, assistant front office manager and F&B Director.

Schoenrock witnessed many changes in the hotels where he worked. During his mandate at InterContinental Dallas, Schoenrock was responsible with the redecoration of over 500 rooms, which is an advantage for InterContinental Bucharest hotel , whose renovation works started this year with 21st floor.

Soper is not the first managing director of a five-star hotel in Bucharest who leaves Romania at the beginning of this year. In the early days of 2009, hotel Radisson announced the appointment of a new managing director. Thus Torbjörn Bodin who ran the hotel for two years was replaced by Ali Yilmaz Yildirimlar.
