Orange Romania a launches full-track music download store for handsets and PCs

Orange Romania launched a full-track music download store for mobile phones and computers. With a varied catalogue of 1 million titles, Music Store is one of the most popular services for digital music download in Europe, already launched by Orange in France, UK, Spain and Portugal.

In Music Store, Orange Romania’s clients will find the latest hits, following agreements concluded by Orange with international record labels - Universal, Sony BMG, Warner and EMI and with some of the biggest indie record labels.

When clients download a track from Music Store, they pay once for two files, one compatible for PC and one for the mobile phone, at an optimized quality for each device regardless to the access interface – from www.orange.ro or from Orange World portal. A track costs 1.6 euros, and when it is downloaded on computer, it can be synchronized with the mobile phone via data cable or over-the-air.

At Music Store, users can listen to a 30 seconds song preview free-of-charge, they can use the advanced search engine and by connecting to Media Player mode, especially designed by Orange, users can store and organize music on the computer. The Media Player application is a new audio and video player that allows storage and organization of tracks on playlists, their transfer on MPR player and on Orange mobile phone, or burning them onto a disk.

Furthermore, the users who enabled the PrePay Music package, an offer made together with Universal Music for young music and multimedia fans, will benefit of 30,000 tracks that can be downloaded at a 30% discount from the standard price.

The mobile music consumption has grown considerably: in western Europe, the musicphone penetration increased by more than 50% in July 2007-August 2008, trend spurred by the broadening offer of mobile music for handsets and PCs.
