Reebok and Northland see sluggish sales this year in Romania

The Romanian importer of Reebok, Northland, Protest Boardwear, Rocawear & Sir Benni Miles or Capita&Union&Deeluxe brands, reported sales of 9 million euros for last year. According to own statements, Reebok’s contribution fell to 60% while Northland’s slid to 17% in total sales.

For 2009, the representatives of the company said the predictions were moderate, as Kraus & Co Sport & Casual Distribution sees sluggish sales due to the economic woes that have already gripped the consumption rate in Romania.

“We hope to keep turnover at the same level in 2009. The sale volume will surely be affected by the financial crisis, however the warm winter dampened the sale of winter clothes, as the snowboard and ski clothing account for a large share of Northland’s total sales”, said Ovidiu Tengher, Sales&Marketing Coordinator of Northland Professional.

The famous brand-clothing items are marketed also in the ski resorts in Prahova Valley as well as in other independent retail units.

With 14 own stores and in franchise, of which 11 Reebok stores and three Northland, the clothing retailer said it planned to expand network. “We intend on opening a new unit in Bucharest, in another mall where we have no retail point. For the moment, we don’t take into consideration the possibility of opening any new store in sidewalk locations”, Tengher added.
