Romania's leu slides to 4.29 on regional trend

The national currency followed in the steps of the Polish zloty and of other regional currencies, decreasing this morning on a rather quiet market close to 4.29 per euro, NewsIn informs.
The euro stood at 4.27 lei in early trades, but the exchange rate jogged up during the first half hour to 4.2980 lei. The leu shot up briefly but returned close to 4.29 and at 10:20 a.m., banks were buying an euro for 4.2860 lei and selling it for 4.2960 lei.

The region acted along the same lines. After falling from 4.7760 to 4.8288 per euro, the Polish zloty came back to 4.8050 per euro and the Hungarian forint first lost ground from 304 close to 307 against the euro and then strengthened all the way to 305.8 per euro.
