Romanias leu drops to 4.2833 over the euro on benchmark rate



Romania’s national currency, the leu slid 0.08 percent over the last reference rate last week, to 4.2833 over the euro according to the central bank, NewsIn informs
At the end of last week the currency was pinned at 4.2797 over the euro.

The market has been pretty quiet today and the exchange rate is stagnating since the early morning fall, dealer with Banca Transilvania Ioan Birle told NewsIn. The emergent currencies in the region strengthened as well and had a lot to recover after last week’s, he added.

The leu started the day at 4.27 over the euro and then fell to 4.2875. At 13:20 the banks were buying the euro for 4.2817 and selling it for 4.2929 lei.

In the region, the Hungarian forint soared from 302.8 to 298.5 euro and the Polish zloty grew from 4.7460 to 4.68 over the euro.
