Romania's leu inches to 4.2810 versus the euro in mid-session



Romania's national currency, the leu, advanced 0.05% at the benchmark exchange rate established by the central bank to 4.2810 lei per euro, on a quiet market, following the evolution of other emergent currencies mainly driven by governors’ co-ordinated statements in the region, NewsIn informs.

BNR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2833 lei per euro yesterday.

The leu had a volatile evolution in the first part of the session and waved around 4.283-4.293 lei per euro. At 1:45 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2823 lei and selling it for 4.2923 lei.

In Poland, the zloty hovered around 4.636 and 4.7 versus the euro and was traded for 4.689 zloty per euro after 1:40 p.m. The Hungarian forint had a similar evolution and parked at 297.7 versus the single European currency at the same hour.

BNR's reference exchange rate also indicates a 0.05 percent rise of the national currency versus the U.S. dollar to 3.3393 lei per dollar, from 3.3411 in the previous session.
