Romanian leu slips second day in a row to 4.2909 against euro at the reference exchange rate

The reference exchange rate announced today by Romania's central lender BNR inched to 4.2909 lei per euro after a quiet session compared to the region, when the leu waved around the level of 4.29 versus the single European currency throughout the day, NewsIn informs..

BNR posted yesterday a reference exchange rate of 4.2891 lei per euro.

The leu floated between 4.2876 and 4.2970 against the euro throughout the session. At 1:30 p.m. the leu depreciated slightly, as banks were buying the euro with 4.2925 lei and selling it for 4.3015 lei.

The emerging currencies in the region appreciated significantly. The Polish zloty strengthened from 4.7356 to 4.64 units per euro and the Hungarian forint gained ground from 302.5 to 296 versus the euro.
