Wine maker Murfatlar expects 200 mln lei turnover in 2009

Romanian wine producer Murfatlar, known for its Zestrea Pinot Noir wine, estimates a 13 percent annual increase in business this year to 200 million lei, betting on investments, despite the economic downturn, NewsIn informs.

Last year, the company booked a turnover of 176 million lei.

It plans to invest some 2.8 million euros this year, mostly to replant 175 hectares of vineyards. In the past two years the company doled out 4.1 million euros to replant some 335 hectares of vineyards, part of a longer program to grow young vineyards.

Murfatlar has a 3,000 hectare land of vineyards.
