The exchange rate nears 4.28 lei per euro, after mild increase in early trades

The national currency retraced its steps to 4.28 versus the euro after a brief upturn during initial transactions, on a quiet market and following the regional trend, NewsIn informs.
The leu stood at 4.265 per euro at opening call and after a momentarily climb returned to the starting quota. Later on, it started to lose ground and at 10:55 a.m. was positioned between 4.2740 and 4.2790 per euro.

“The market is pretty quiet and the leu is following the pattern set by other emergent currencies that moved up at debut,” declared Florin Constantinescu, dealer with Banca Comerciala Carpatica.

The Hungarian forint rose from 297 to 293 against the euro but fell to 298, while the Polish zloty first strengthened from 4.5175 to 4.45 per euro only to decrease to 4.4730 per euro.
