Romanian leu sinks to 4.2862 versus euro at the reference exchange rate

Romania’s national currency, the leu, lost ground at noon to 4.2862 against the single European currency on a calm market and under the influence of the emergent currencies, NewsIn informs.
The leu started the day at 4.2790 over the euro, but then slipped to 4.29 and waved around 4.2850. At 13:25, banks were buying the euro for 4.2840 and selling it for 4.2930.

“The market seems to be in stand-by,” dealer with Banca Transilvania, Florin Bota said. The leu is under the influence of the emergent currencies but is not that responsive to their growing trend.

In the region, the Polish zloty fell from 4.46 to 4.5060 per euro and then strengthened to 4.43 and the Hungarian forint depreciated from 296.5 to 299.6 and then recovered to 296.1 over the euro.
