Transelectrica pays out 17% lower gross dividend from last year's profit



Romanian electricity transporter Transelectrica plans to pay out a gross dividend of 0.30 lei per share from last year's profit, down 17 percent compared to the one granted in 2008, a release remitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) shows.
The company paid a gross dividend of 0.36 lei per share from the profit booked in 2007.

Transelectrica revised upwards by 6.6 percent the net profit recorded last year, to 41.9 million lei, following 26.3 percent higher business, to 2.92 billion lei.

The electricity transporter has been listed on BSE in 2006, on August 29. The company is majority owned by the Finance Ministry, with a 73.69 percent stake. Proprietatea Fund, created to compensate people whose properties were illegally taken by the communist regime, owns 13.50 percent shares.
