Romatsa to slash 200 jobs by year end

Romanian Air Traffic Administration, Romatsa will reduce headcount from 1,800 to 1,600 by year end, said the managing director of Romatsa Bogdan Donciu at the regional reunion on aviation security.
“Airline carriers urges us to cut costs, a measure that would help them boost traffic and revenues respectively,” said Bogdan Donciu.

Romatsa revenues stood at 140 million euros in 2008, the managing director expecting this year’s business to return a similar figure. Donciu added he expected a reduction of commercial traffic by 6-8%.

Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Radu Berceanu, who attended the reunion on aviation security, said that Romania is in crisis, and Romatsa could not remain intact. He also called for a more rigorous oversight on spending at Romatsa.
