Currency exchange rate climbs for third successive session

The central bank BNR pinned the leu at 4.1736 over the euro, a drop for the third day in a row, owing to a regional drift stirred by negative news on retail sales in the U.S. in March, NewsIn informs.
Yesterday’s quota was of 4.1379 lei/euro.

The currency stood at 4.1535 over the euro early today but then began to drop to 4.1805 and at 1.30 p.m. banks were buying the euro for 4.1760 and selling it for 4.1830 lei.

The leu waved around similarly to the forint, suffering a correction after strengthening significantly since the end of March on the news Romania agreed with the International Monetary Fund and other international lenders for a 20 billion euro loan. On the other hand, the Polish zloty grew on news related to the IMF, chief dealer of Banca Transilvania, Ioan Birle told NewsIn.

In the region, the Polish zloty rose from 4.2930 to 4.2270 over the euro and the Hungarian forint lost ground from 288 to 289.5.
