The reference exchange rate falls 0.38%



The benchmark exchange rate set by the central lender BNR lowered by 0.38 percent to 4.2218 lei per euro today, after the national currency advanced early trades, in contrast with the evolution of other regional currencies, on a volatile market, NewsIn informs.
BNR established a benchmark exchange rate of 4.2380 lei per euro in the previous session.

The single European currency was traded for 4.2310 lei at opening bell, but lost to 4.2390 after the first transactions. The leu climbed constantly to 4.2180 and at 1:10 p.m. banks were buying a euro with 4.2190 lei and selling it for 4.2240 lei.

In the region, emerging currencies fell constantly. The Hungarian forint dipped from 293.10 to 296.80 versus the euro and the Polish zloty plummeted from 4.4830 to 4.5730 over the euro.

BNR's benchmark exchange rate also indicates a 0.14 percent drop of the national currency versus the U.S. dollar to 3.2099 lei per dollar, from 3.2055 in the previous session.
