BMW unveiled at Shanghai AutoShow two new members of the new 7Series family, BMW 760i and 760Li, which will be available to order in Romania as of this fall, company informs.
The model brings two major premieres to BMW, the first V12 all-aluminum engine with Twin-Turbo technology and High Precision Injection, as well as the first eight-speed automatic transmission.

Developed as a completely-new engine from the ground up, the new V12 develops 400kW/544 HP at a maximum 5,250 rpm engine speed, with a maximum torque of 750 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The new BMW 760i and BMWLi come with an extended wheelbase by 14 cm at the rear.

Acceleration to 100 km/h comes in just 4.6 seconds, average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 12.9 litres/100 kilometres on the new BMW 760i. In determining the cars' fuel consumption, BMW's engineers have already taken the stricter EU5 emission standard into account.

Twin Power Technology and High Precision Injection are combined in the new BMW 760i and BMW 760Li mark the beginning of a generation shift in power transmission systems.

At the same time the 8-speed automatic transmission may be combined with hybrid drive, making it art of BMW’s Active Hybrid technology combining an 8-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor. This innovative drive concept will reach production in the first hybrid model in the BMW 7 Series later in 2009.
