BenQ Romania expects flat turnover in 2009
BenQ Romania, the local subsidiary of Taiwan-based manufacturer of electronic devices expects the turnover to stay in the range of 14.7 mln euros this year, similar to last year’s result.
The Taiwan-based manufacturer posted last year a turnover of around 14.7 million euros, down 30%from 21 million euros a year earlier, said Mike Borze (photo), Managing BenQ for Central and Eastern Europe. The company had projected an increase in turnover up to 28 million euros.
In 2008, some 1 million PCs were sold in the Romanian market, half of which notebooks, according to Dragos Salamac, team leader of the company in Romania.
“Desktops will completely disappear or will be used for merely gaming and business. However, the demand for netbooks is rocketing”, Salamac added.
BenQ has broadened its products range with the launch of a new Full HD 16:9 LCD monitor and projectors with short throw and brightness technologies. The company added new lineups such as Joybook Lite netbooks, mobile internet devices as well as new range of all-in-one PCs (nScreen).
“This round of developments is an extension of our strategy for Romania. Due to the current economic conditions we’ve reshaped these plans accordingly, but we remained devoted to our belief that a business should extensively support itself by exploring new realms”, said Borze.
If last year, the lion’s share of the revenues were driven by LCD-based products, the trend is expected to remain the same, Salamac continued. “LCDs will be the main revenue drivers this year”.
