The benchmark exchange rate inches to 4.1638 lei per euro today



The benchmark exchange rate settled by the central lender BNR upped 0.08 percent to 4.1638 lei per euro today, after the leu slipped to 4.17 during the first transactions and then recovered to 4.16, without following the evolution of other regional currencies, which fell constantly versus the euro.
BNR established a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1605 lei per euro yesterday.

The national currency dipped from 4.16 to 4.1710 versus the euro on opening and then soared to 4.1595. The exchange rate stabilized near 4.16 afterwards and at 1:40 p.m. banks were buying the euro with 4.1610 lei and selling it for 4.1680 lei.

In the region, the Hungarian forint lost gradually from 282.38 to 285.81 over the euro and the Polish zloty plunged from 4.3695 to 4.4065 versus the single European currency

BNR's reference exchange rate indicates a 0.59 percent drop of the national currency versus the U.S. dollar to 3.1287 lei per dollar, from 3.1103 in the previous session.
