Cosmote reports 98,1 million revenues in Q1, up 84,4%



Comote, one of the leading mobile telecommunication carriers in Romania reported revenues up 84,4%% in first quarter this year, up to 98,1 million euros, from 53.2 million euros a year earlier.
The telecommunication provider posted a positive EBITDA of over 13 million euros in Q1, versus prior-year quarter.

“Cosmote continued to deliver high performance in Romanian marketplace, managed to meet all its objectives related to financial-indicators as well as enhancing its client database”, said Konstantinos Apostolou, CFO Cosmote Romania.

Cleaving operations to its market strategy in Romania, Cosmote enriched its client database with over 212,000 new users in first quarter 2009, up 44.5% from prior-year period, now holding a 6.1million user base under management, thus occupying a market share of 23%.

“Furthermore, the number of subscribers accounts to 20% of total users, marking a 62% increase from Q1, 2008”, Apostolou added.

In 2009, Cosmote is set to pursue its market execution and continue delivering strong financial performance, focusing delivering relevant offers for all user segments. At the same time, the company will continue its expansion and infrastructure, retail network and customer service monitoring in an effort to reach excellence in all areas of interaction with customers.

Cosmote, Romania’s third largest mobile telecommunication provider ended the year 2008 with positive EBITDA of 22.5 million euros and revenues of 311 million euros, double compared to 2007.
