Leu strengthens to 4.1281 over the euro at reference exchange rate



The reference exchange rate of the central bank (BNR) placed the leu at 4.1281 over the single European currency after the leu gained ground in the morning on region flow, NewsIn informs
The last time such a low reference exchange rate was posted was April 10. Yesterday the leu parked at 4.1638 over the euro.

The leu appreciated significantly until noon, from 4.15 to 4.1250 over the euro and then slipped a bit, only to recover to 4.13 and continue the upturn. At 1:40 p.m. banks were buying the euro with 4.1190 and selling it with 4.1260 lei.

Regional currencies also rose over the euro, the Hungarian forint growing 2.25 percent to 277.20 and the Polish zloty swelling 1.83 percent to 4.3031 against the euro.

“The regional sentiment is good,” a dealer told NewsIn, adding that all the currencies in the region witnessed growths.
