Leu gains ground after early-trade devaluation



Romania’s national currency grew to a reference exchange rate of 4.1529 against the single European currency after dropping this morning, NewsIn informs.
Yesterday the central bank pinned the leu at 4.1590 over the euro. The leu started out this morning to 4.1460 against the euro and then began to lose ground to 4.1670. After 10:30 a.m. it mounted on an appreciating trend and at 1:45 p.m. banks were buying the euro for 4.1530 and selling it for 4.1580 lei.

Regional currencies also depreciated in early deals and then recouped. The Polish zloty fell from 4.40 over the euro to 4.4305, only to increase back and the Hungarian forint cheapened from 280 to 281.60 on the euro and then hiked to 278.80.
