Leu still falling against euro

Romania's national currency, the leu, dropped close to 4.20 over the single European currency in the first part of the day, in line with the evolution of regional currencies, and the central lender BNR established a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1923 lei per euro, up 0.08 percent over yesterday, NewsIn informs.
BNR settled a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1891 lei per euro in the previous session.

The leu began today's session at 4.1725 versus the euro and dipped constantly to 4.1980. Banks were buying a euro with 4.1895 lei and selling it for 4.2005 lei at 2 p.m.

Regional currencies also showed a downward trend versus the euro following investors' higher aversion towards risk, after several European economies tumbled. The zloty plummeted from 4.4580 to 4.4968 versus the euro and the Hungarian forint slipped from 287.64 to 289.60 over the euro.
