McDonald's Romania invests 9 million in Q1 to extend network in Romania



McDonald's Romania, division of the world's largest restaurant company, invested some 9 million euros since the beginning of the year to open three new restaurants and now controls 61 units nationwide, declared the company's communications director, Cristian Savu.
The restaurants inaugurated this year are located in the eastern city Piatra Neamt and the central Sibiu and cost about 2.5 million euros each. The third one is in Bucharest and cost 4 million euros. The three new units would create 200 new jobs.

The company officials declared at the beginning of the year that they plan to open six new restaurants, despite of the economic crisis.

McDonald's Romania belongs to the international McDonald's Corporation and reported a turnover of about 400 million euros in 2008, 30 percent up from 2007.

According to the financial report, the global chain of restaurants recorded an annual 6.1 percent increase in sales during the first quarter of the year.
