Vodafone Romania: EBITDA shrinks 3.5% to 527 million euros

The mobile-phone company Vodafone Romania said its full FY- operating earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortization fell 3.5% down to 527 million euros from 546 million euros in FY 2007-2008.
EBITDA margin stood at 45.1% in the 12 months to March while total revenues increased by 0.7%, to 1.16 million euros.

The carrier registered 667,212 net additions in customer base in 2008/2009 for a total of 9,588,065 in the fiscal year ending in March 31, 2009. Vodafone Romania extended its users portfolio by 7.5% from prior FY.

“We are pleased with our financial results, given the changes in the overall macroeconomic environment over the past few months. The regulatory decisions, the slowdown in consumer confidence and the devaluation of the local currency have reduced our growth, as trading became more challenging in the second half of our financial year”, said Liliana Solomon, Chief Executive Officer Vodafone Romania.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) was EUR 9.85 for the year ending March 31, 2009, as compared to EUR 10.76, at the end of March, 2008, corresponding to a decline of 8.5% year on year.

The number of 3G devices in Vodafone Romania network went up to 1,135,260 by March 31, 2009 which represents a 78.3% year on year growth.
