Leu gains 0.51% versus single European currency



Romania's central bank (BNR) settled a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1548 lei per euro today, down 0.51 percent over yesterday's level, after the national currency strengthened in the early trades, following a regional trend, NewsIn informs.
BNR posted a benchmark exchange rate of 4.1760 lei per euro in the previous session.

The leu soared from 4.1666 to 4.15 versus the euro at rising bell and then waved close to this level. Banks were buying a euro with 4.1525 lei and selling it for 4.1575 lei at 1:30 p.m.

In the region, the Polish zloty grew from 4.42 to 4.3680 over the euro and then idled at 4.37, while the Hungarian forint advanced from 281.58 to 277.05 and stabilized close to 278 afterwards.

BNR's reference exchange rate also shows a 1.59 percent climb for the national currency versus the American dollar, to 3.0506 lei per dollar, from 3.0999 yesterday.
