Currency exchange rate grows slightly at the benchmark exchange rate
The benchmark exchange rate posted by the central bank today pinned the national currency at 4.1630 over the euro, down from yesterday’s quota of 4.1548, NewsIn informs
The leu started out at 4.1510 and fell to 4.1655 against the euro and at 1:45 p.m. banks were buying the euro for 4.1625 and selling it for 4.1695 lei.
The market is relatively stable today, after currencies in the region rose in the morning and then began to slip, chief dealer with Banca Transilvania, Ioan Birle, told NewsIn.
In the region, the Polish zloty initially grew from 4.3750 to 4.3360 against the euro and then returned to the opening level of 4.2820 over the euro and the Hungarian forint hiked from 278 to 275.80 and then dropped to 277.60 against the euro.
